Eye Makeup Application

One of the most difficult methods to master in makeup application is those done on the eyes. Wearing eye makeup is a bit tedious as it requires precision and art all at the same time. The right blend and shade should also be achieved as they will also make or break your eyes. And by knowing how to put on eye makeup properly, you will sure get glamorous, soulful or poppy eyes, depending on how you want your eyes to look.

So, here are the basic steps in applying eye makeup:

Step 1: Preparing the Eyelids

The eye makeup application begins with the eyelids. And you start by applying a base on and around the cover of your eyes. You can use your foundation in doing this, as your goal is to keep the shades of different eye makeup together once applied to your eyes.

Once you have the base, then you apply the eye shadow. Shadows come in combinations, light, medium and dark. Begin with the lightest shade covering the upper part of your eyes, then use the medium shade to cover the lids, starting at the corner of the eyelid going to the outer edge. You may use your fingertip to blend the two shades in the area where they meet.

Then you will apply the darkest eye shadow color to give your eyes some depth. Like the medium shade, start at the inner corner going to the outer edge. Just follow the lines of the crease so you won’t be lost. Then blend the dark shade with the medium shade in order to soften the demarcation lines.

Step 2: Drawing the Lines

When drawing the shape of your eyes, apply a thin arc of eyeliner along the path of your upper and lower lashes.

• If you want to gain a bigger, wide set of eyes, start drawing the line one quarter away from the eye’s inner corner. The start should be thin, then gradually growing thick and wide towards the edge.

• Meanwhile, if you want your eyes to look thinner and closer, add a touch of the darkest shade of eye shadow in the inner corners of the eyelid, then start drawing the line right a the inner corners of the lash line.

Step 3: Finishing the Lashes

The lashes also make your eyes pop and become glamorous, thus you should know how to apply them right. If you want thick lashes, begin by wiggling the mascara applicator on the middle of the lashes, slowly reaching the tip. Do not leave clumps of makeup on your lashes, as your goal is to make the lashes look natural, and not all made up.

If you want to lengthen your lashes, you may use fake lashes which can be glued at the base of the eyelid. There are also different types of special lengthening mascara that you can use as well. These mascara products often come in a 2-in-1 applicator and consists of white and black creams-the white is first applied to the lashes to create extra intention, and then the black shade covers up the white streaks to add more volume to the lashes.
